Meeting Information

Meeting Friday, June 27, 1:00 pm:
  • Again this month we are having one of our more popular meetings of the year as we stage a WOCN Roundtable. For those of you unfamiliar with this terminology, the "Roundtable" is a center stage presentation of a panel of WOCN's for the express purpose of answering questions and addressing items put forth by the assembly. The "roundtable" designation is derived from the format of the meeting, since it is conducted as if each of us were sitting around a table with these very knowledgeable and caring professionals, affectionately known to us as "Angels." We will all want to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge which will be made available to us during these open forum discussions. This meeting is always very informative for not only ostomates, but for family members, caregivers, and friends as well.

Meeting Friday, July 25, 2008, 1:00 pm:
  • Greg de Berry, cancer survivor and professional hypnotist, will be our June presenter. Greg will discuss how hypnotism can help persons release emotional attachments to the past, which in turn can be an integral part in transforming one's future. He will also discuss how hypnosis can help develop an improved attitude when dealing with disease, and in effect, allow an individual to use the disease as a springboard for personal growth. Powerful stuff! Don't miss it.

Meeting Friday, August 22, 2008, 1:00 pm:
  • Last year we had a presentation on activities and procedures which were useful to avoid or at least minimize the effects of Alzheimer's disease. In the current meeting, Alisa Cox from the San Diego Alzheimer Association will give a presentation designed to provide an understanding of the disease. This presentation will encompass a true definition of Alzheimer's disease; recognizable symptoms of onset; and things which may be done to slow down the progression of the disease or minimize the effects of it in its earlier stages. This promises to be a very informative session, especially since professional experience indicates most people know a lot less about Alzheimer's disease than they think they do.

Meetings are held at Tri-City Medical Center at 1:00 pm on the fourth Friday of each month (except November, Friday before Thanksgiving):
